We do it to work the bottom end of the lift. It also increases the range of motion for the lift making you work harder. Oh ok....shows what I know!....thanks Greg!....

7/13 M/E bench 135x10 225x5 275x1 chest alittle tight still so very little raw work. 1 brd w/shirt (old loose shirt) 365x3 385x3 405x3 455x3 475x2 495x1 ugly as hell!! my back was sweating, when i touched the board my back started sliding out from under me 505x0 was out of gas! going to stay with the loose shirt for now when it gets closer to the meet i'll use a little better one. Just saving up..

I second that Joey! Greg if you are hitting 495 in a training shirt, then it should be more then gravy with a band new shirt of the same type and size.

Thanks joey! My best squats are as follows.... Best contest 775 @198 (weighed in at 183) 722 @181 (this year at seniors) Best gym 725...i have my own theories on gym lifts. I don't go higher than openers in the gym (as far as full squats, benches, deads) and just do all i can at the meet "that day". Reason being i've set my self up for a let down before, hit some big number in the gym and fell on my face or had to high of expectations at a meet just to fall short of what i did in the gym due to various reasons so i quit doing it. I do my opener and save the rest for the meet when it counts!

I been there too Greg, I had a serious reality check at my first full power meet at NGBB last year where I bombed out due to squat depth. So since then I have done nothing but bellow parallel in training and leaned to like the hole.

Thanks again guys for comments. I'm glad to be apart of this network of great lifters, i'll always share cause i'm getting my fair share from the rest of you! 7/20 D-E squat ,deadlift The workout was crap due to my hip & knee being injured now. Just in case anyone tries to pull sumo standing on plates make sure you are very flexible. I think this is how i got hurt, its not to bad just some time off and i'll be good as new. 7/22 M-E bench raw warmup 135x10 225x5 275x1 (chest getting better) 2 brd 365x3 405x3 (to chest) 455x3 475x3 495x2 515x1
