Hey Stacey (and everyone!) I'm sorry I haven't posted in so long. I'll save you the list of all my excuses. I'm not going to catch up my posts, but just start them up again. Now that Greg and I are moved and mostly settled in, I have a little more time to be on the computer. I've missed reading all the posts and training logs! Greg has kept me up to speed some, but it's not the same. It's good to be back!
11/08--bench
I've been doing nothing but raw work when it comes to benching. My technique is improving and I'm becoming more comfortable under the bar, but I still have a long way to go. I've still been struggling with some of my old mental issues, which greatly effects my bench. Greg and I had a good talk about it, and decided that I need to just erase all my numbers and pretend that I am starting from scratch. I am weak and I am here to get strong. It is working so far. I don't get so down on myself when my numbers aren't up there. If I have worked hard, then I have done well. And on that note......
20 min. cardio
incline db press 15 x 10 20 x 10 25 x 10 supersetted with tricep band work 3 sets of 10 each side
bar x 5 double mini bands x 3 2 double minis x 1 (w/a bump) 2 double minis x 1 (w/a bump) ---> 1 brd " " " x 1 no help -----> 2 brd 2 double minis x 2-----> 3 brd
1 dbl mini x 3----> 3 brd 1 dbl mini w/65 x 3 -----> 2 brd 1 dbl mini w/75 x 2 ----> 1 brd
95 x 4
decline bench 65 x 6 75 x 6 85 x 6 95 x 6
seated bench w/purple bands 3 sets, same tension, increased weight each set

Sharon ~ It is great to have you posting again!!!! That mental stuff can really mess you up. I like the idea of starting from scratch. I think we are always our own worst critics....you are a very strong woman, and you bring so much to all of those you know! I love reading your log!

Thanks guys. Stacey, thank you for such encouraging words. Isn't it funny how we can "think" ourselves weak? I swear to you I can do it. I'm getting to the point that I'm getting angry about it, which according to Greg, is going to be a good thing. I have never let anything get the best of me....ever, and I am not about to start now. My focus is on making myself better-period. Not numbers, not competitors, not meets. Right now it is still a bit of an effort to maintain such a seemingly simple focus, but with a little more time it will be second nature and my strength AND my mentality will compliment each other.
Keep up the good work and thanks again for the encouragment!

Crazy bell presses---using bands (I used purple) hang one DB from each side of the bar. Hang them loose enough that there will be "bounce." When you take the hand off, make sure to steady the bar for a minute before taking it down. They are crazy presses for a reason!! The dumbells will bounce slightly, making it slightly more difficult than regular band work. Take the bar down as you normally would, with control. I really liked it.
I think they are technically supposed to be done with kettle bells instead of db's, but we don't have a set of Kb's that worked for me, so we improvised!

Sharon, looks like you're doing a good job. Keep it up. And, I certainly know about mentally making yourself weak... you're not weak at all!! Those crazy bell presses sound fun.
