10.16.06 - Bench at SWGym
bar 1 x 10 (3 grip) 65 1 x 6 95 1 x 6 115 2 x 6 125 3 x 6
3 board 135 1 x 3 155 1 x 3 170 2 x 3
4 board 185 1 x 3 200 2 x 3
Incline bench - just to learn it bar 1 x ~15
Triceps Pushdown 60 2 x 10, 1 x 15 Rear Rope Pull 40 1 x 10, 2 x 15
Abs on T-ball 1 x 50 1 x 50 obliques
The 125 sets were easy this time... incredibly easy. I think I could have kept going, but I wanted to save some energy for boards. Felt good having 200 in my hands again too. I'm still having to learn some proprioception/control, but it's getting better. In the end, a good workout, and I definitely started feeling the fatigue on the drive home.

Ok... now you're caught up. Sorry for the long read. I just figure it's better to have all the information, rather than starting in the middle. I welcome any comments, suggestions, etc. I'm a student of lifting and know I can learn a thing or 2 from just about anyone. Have a great day and take care.

Thanks, Staceyj. It's nothing impressive (yet) but I hope to make some good steady progress. Also, I wanted to say thank you to anyone else that took the time to read this so far.

Welcome Heather! Read your entire log earlier today -- you've been through some tough times, and I admire your tenacity! Good to have you on board!

A pathetic attempt to squat with pathetic weights. It's not worth posting, but for record...
10.21.06
bar 1 x 6 95 1 x 3 135 2 x 3 185 1 x 3 - add belt 225 1 x 0 - shoulder problem 185 1 x 3 - add 14" box 195 1 x 0 - same problem as 225
Like I said... pathetic. The weight feels light on unrack and the descent but when I try to come up, everything goes wrong. I try to lead with the head and drive the elbows and I just can't budge. Or I feel like I'll dump the weight if I go further. This is incredibly irritating. I just want to squat, damn it!! I give up... new goal... Have my bench numbers surpass my squat numbers.

I thought I'd post this here. It's part of a conversation I had with some other powerlifters.
And, no, I'm not giving up on squats. Bench is technically my better lift, but I like squats. I'm just frustrated.

Coming back from an injury or setback always seems harder to me if the setback/injury is someone else's fault (see my cardio history thread on the cardio forum). I know it is much harder for you because you were hurt much worse. Having patience is tough -- but every time I find myself getting impatient I always remind myself I have all the time in the world. That's one of the great things about PLing and fitness in general -- you're on your own timetable. It sucks to have to handle lighter weights (or to run less than 5 miles, dammit!), but you've just got to do it in order to get where you want to be. Stay strong Heather! Most people couldn't, or wouldn't, bounce back as well as you have already! You can do this!
