thanks again everyone. have had lots of calls and visitors. joey and barry woods are keeping my phone hot but that is good. it's good to hear from everyone and i don't get tired of the calls. hannah and clark came yesterday and that was cool. it's always good to see friends and juliana loved the strawberry shortcake magic coloring book. she colored for a while after you guys left yesterday. it's always amazing to see who comes out to show support. patrick rodgers and his wife careen from virginia sent a basket yesterday and i've only emailed him a couple of times in the last year. thanks you guys. len from washington called and showed his support. i'm not trying to miss anyone and every call is important so thank you all. anyway, doc came in yesterday and had a good report. probably coming home first of next week. she is able to get up a little now but with a lot of pain. all is good all is well. just continue to keep us in your thoughts and we will see you all very soon.

latest update: just woke up from working last night and talked to julie. juliana was able to get up yesterday, i might have told you all that. but now she is back on strict bedrest. when she got up this morning she had a lot of blood in her urine which isn't good, so they said they are concerned that she may lose the kidney so it's back to bed. 1 step forward 2 back. yesterday there was no mention of losing the kidney just a full recovery and now another blow. anyway i would like to thank lynn hodges for the build a bear gift card, juliana is really excited about going to do that. also thanks to candyass and zane for the encouraging words. again thank you all and hopefully i can stop posting next week.

well more complete bedrest for juliana. should have been heading home in a day or two but not now. julie got to see the scan of juliana's kidney, pretty scary stuff. it's in 3 pieces. pretty hard lick for a 5 year old. the docs are saying as long as she doesn't get jerked around or jar it she should be able to keep it. blood flow looked good to all the parts but that is the problem 3 parts. still very optimistic at this point b/c she's still here. she was in good spirits yesterday but she has been let down again b/c she can't get out of bed. please help her to stay strong. thanks again

Wow, I just read this for the first time and also included my wife in it. We are the parents of 3 children and I know how things are when your kids get hurt or sick. You feel helpless and want to be in there place. I will add your family to my prayers and also add you guys to the prayer list at church tomorrow. No way to spend a fathers day weekend, but keep your head up and put it in Gods hands.
Take care and God bless!

just wanted to give a big shout out to joey and his family. you'll never know how much it meant for you all to drive that far to spend time with us. it really means a lot to us. got to give him a little hell as well. who would have thought that joey had something bigger than his mouth that does more good than bad. man you've got a huge heart and it has shown while you lift but sometimes it's hard to get guys like us to show it towards others but you have and it has really touched us. thank you man. also barry wood and tracey came by yesterday and brought some lunch and it was a great time. barry is just a big teddy bear. i've always known your heart was big. all this has really showed us who you can count own in times of need and these are the things you'll never forget. thank you all

sorry about not posting. juliana is feeling much better. we can get her out of the bed and into a wheelchair and take her to the cafeteria or the play area. kinda sad though b/c she has to just watch the other kids play. she may get to come home by the end of the week. she is still passing blood but it is clearing up slowly. she is an amazing little girl. just want to thank barry williams and his wife for coming by again sat. also mike white, ox and kristi mason came by. all the phone calls, visits, posts and gifts mean so much to us all. thanks again. she is going to recover fully in time. it's just gonna take a little while.

well one step forward and two back again. got to the hospital yesterday to find out they had done an ultrasound and she has lost half of the kidney. julie saw the scan and said it was black and the other half is dark grey so who knows. i know she can live a normal life with one but you sure hate to know that your 5 yr. old has lost something like that. of course no promise on the other half making it either. but good news she will probably be home when i wake up today. she will be on serious restriction for minimum of two months they say. no running, jumping, riding bikes, swinging, etc. anything that can cause a fall or a hit of any kind is out. so i guess i will be a bigger asshole than usual. on a side note i was visiting yesterday and she was playing with one of those ribbon things they use in gymnastics sometimes and she yelled tomorrow i'll be FREE!!!!!! that will forever ring in my ears as one of the sweetest things i've ever heard. thanks again everyone

Chris, I am new to the board posting-wise, but have been reading and keeping up with Juliana's story. I am glad to hear she is doing better. She sounds like a tough little girl and i have no doubt she will fight hard and recover. I can't imagine how difficult the inactivity must be for her as well as for your whole family. I have a 7-year-old nephew who means the world to me and I don't know what I would do if something happened to him.
I have had and will continue to have you and your family in my thoughts and I wish you all the best. Hang in there.

cooke i'm so sorry to hear about juliana's kidney but very glad that she will be coming home. as awful as all of this is, take comfort in knowing that she will still recover relatively unscathed. you have every right to be an asshole and julie can be whatever she wants as well! thanks for keeping everyone posted...i'll relay the info to ryan and the ngbb crew. we're all praying for juliana!
