back in 04, i met two guys who really shook up my world as it was at the time and changed my mindset. these two guys are known as BREAKER and MR. SMITH. no one had heard of these two at all but their potential was very obvious when they spoke of their lifts...
when i first had these two on the phone, lets just say that the next hour about as damn entertaining as pro-wrestling. though between these two, they pushed me and challenged me...we then had a training session where in essence my ass was handed to me...those two know it and i admit to it. i had to learn to be humble again...those two handed me my ass on raw and shirted bench. but nonetheless it was a great session...
joey and mike taught me that "you can't teach badass in the gym"..literally. these guys was all about puttin in where it matters on the platform and killin egos in the process. i had to relearn this lesson again from not competing myself and havin my own ego killed. PRs in the gym are awesome don't get me wrong but unless u put it out on the platform...they don't mean shit. after the meets i've done and what i've seen from the local lifters here, i truly understand this now...especially after ATL...
those two were also honest with me as well and didn't pull any punches when it came to bein real and i admire those two for that because it was the influence of joey and mike that made me the person i am now...they also know the "personal" issues i was having at the time i met them. it was also hard for me to believe that in the little time i've known joey and mike on how WELL they know me...or "read" me at times...again...there drive and attitude towards lifting and brotherhood changed me to a man...inside and out. they know i'm not the same person they met 2 years ago...and i know can do the same for anyone on here...like it did me...
when i told joey about my 735 3-board reverse band bench(on the heels of his 900 reverse band bench)...he rode my ass when i told him what bands i used...told me to man up and deep down...i liked the challenge...and still will take him up on it...but of course u all know this is who joey is...LOL!!
though i do miss the 2 hours of shit-talkin session that i was havin with joey...LOL!! or the posts on my forum from mike on the shit-talkin goin there...aaahhh the memories...LOL!!
i would love to have another training session with joey and mike again sometime in the future...or maybe even meet them on the platform...i guess that's where it will have to be then... ...just for old times sake...and history won't repeat itself...LOL!!
in conclusion, joey and mike have given me my best weapon for my goal in march....and for that i say thanx!
