I just want to b*tch about an injustice that’s been done in North Carolina Powerlifting. It appears that the meet results from January’s APF Clayton meet have yet to be turned in, despite all calls and e-mails requesting them. I’ve been asking, calling etc. on behalf of my training partners Sharon & Robbie. Joey Smith has put in several calls to our state chairman asking that he just pass the results on and he’ll send them into APF headquarters and Powerlifting USA, as he’s done for the last few years. I’ve also discovered that my APF card is expired. To my surprise, it’s been expired since 3/31/07. The funny thing is that I competed in July, 2007 at the APF NC State Push/Pull meet in Clayton, NC (yet another meet the APF has no record of) and paid our chairman to renew my APF membership at that time. That apparently didn’t happen. I wonder how many other people renewed their membership then? I recommend that everyone check because I think that any and everyone that has renewed their cards at these NC APF meets may have been ripped off.
Now the “injustice,” if you will, happened to me and everyone else that have competed in either of these last 2 NC APF meets. ALL the hard work training in the gym, ALL the money spent buying equipment, paying for hotel rooms, etc. has all been in vain because as far as the APF goes, these meets never happened. On a personal note, my training partners Sharon & Robbie busted their asses getting ready for the January meet and each had the best meet of their careers thus far. I believe Sharon’s total could have qualified her for Nationals and I know it would have made Powerlifting Watch’s current rankings as would Robbie’s. Derek Wilcox totaled elite at the meet, which he’s been chasing for a while. He would have certainly ranked high on the top 100 list in PLUSA. But none of this will happen until the results are turned in. I know there are more of you out there that have been robbed of the recognition you deserve. Big names such as Brian Carroll & Adam Driggers lifted in Clayton (Carroll breaking a record) as well as the up and coming lifters as.
I don’t know any other way to describe all of this other than to call it what it is. Stealing. Numbers, hard earned recognition, money….I paid to have my membership renewed at the meet and they kept my money. You tell me what that’s called. All of us worked hard to have our numbers count and that was robbed from us. I just feel sorry for all our fellow NC powerlifters that have been robbed of well deserve recognition and possibly money to boot.
