THE CLAIM: Clinically tested at Baylor University for safety and effectiveness, Anabolic X-Factor™ is the world’s first patented hypertrophic catalyst. By enhancing the storage of arachidonic acid in exercised muscles, X-Factor drastically amplifies the body’s sensitivity and responsiveness to resistance training. This means faster and more profound increases in muscle size, strength, even the rate of lipolysis (fat loss).
The double-blind placebo-controlled study was conduced by the Exercise & Sports Nutrition Laboratory at Baylor University, and examined the results of 50 days of X-Factor supplementation on training adaptations and markers of general health in a group of 31 experienced resistance-trained male subjects.
Those subjects in the X-Factor group added an average of 25lbs to their bench press, which was a nearly 45% greater strength gain than the exercise-only (placebo) group. Peak muscle power also increased significantly (600% > placebo), and other improvements were noted in average power (223% > placebo), and anaerobic endurance (250% > placebo). The study also demonstrated the safety of X-Factor supplementation, with no side effects or negative changes recorded in biomarkers of health. Furthermore, the X-Factor group noticed reductions in Interleukin-6 (IL-6), suggesting a potential beneficial reduction in systemic inflammation.
HOW TO TAKE X-FACTOR
Take 4 capsules per day if you are 200lbs or over, and 3 capsules daily if you are under. The capsules can be taken with meals, and are best divided into 3 or 4 separate applications (1 capsule, 3-4 times per day). Take for 50 days, followed by a break of at least 50 days. Because X-Factor intensifies protein turnover in exercised muscles, you may need to increase your total daily protein and calorie intake in order to gain significant muscle bulk. This often falls in the range of a 500-1000 calorie per day increase.
The effects of X-Factor™ can be hindered by the consumption of certain drugs or supplements. Minimize the intake of pain medications containing acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or aspirin, NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs), Flax and Fish oil supplements, and Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) while taking X-Factor. Keep a balanced high-protein diet, limit oily fish to two meals per week, and avoid the unbalanced (very high) consumption of foods known to be high in omega 3 fatty acids while taking X-Factor. Remember to drink at least 64 ounces of water daily while taking X-Factor™.
SCIENCE GEEK STUFF: M Iosia, M Roberts, C Kerksick, B Campbell, T Harvey, C Wilborn, R Wilson, M. Greenwood, D Willoughby, and R Kreider. Performance and body composition changes after 50 days of concomitant arachidonic acid supplementation and resistance training. Arachidonic acid (AA) is a polyunsaturated omega-6 (ù-6) fatty acid that is stored within skeletal muscle phospholipids and has been purported to stimulate changes in strength and body composition while resistance training. The purpose of this study was to determine if 50 days of concomitant resistance training and AA supplementation affects performance and/or body composition adaptations in previously resistance-trained males.
In conclusion, AA supplementation during resistance-training promoted significant increases in relative peak power with other performance related variables approaching significance. These findings provide some preliminary evidence to support the use of AA as an ergogenic aid. MY OPINION: Makes sense scientifically. Arachidonic acid is an omega-6 essential fatty acid that serves as the principle building block for the synthesis of dienolic prostaglandins. These prostaglandins are integral to protein turnover and muscle accumulation, and have such important activities as increasing blood flow to the muscles, increasing local IGF-1 and insulin sensitivity, supporting satellite cell activation, and increasing the overall rate of protein synthesis and muscle growth. Molecular Nutrition is the brain-child of William (Bill) Llewellyn, an expert on all things anabolic. The company has just one product, X-Factor, so they must believe in the product and its profitability. Also, Gaspari Nutrition has licensed use of the key ingredient in a soon to be released product. If other supplement companies are clamoring for this stuff, maybe we should be, too.
