Marty, What does GPP stand for and what is it?.... GPP stands for General Physical Preparedness. The short definition is the shape an athlete is in to perform a non-specific athletic task. I will be adding some articles soon that delve deeper into the subject, but basically, to put it in old-school football coach speak, in which I am fluent -- it means, WHAT HAVE YOU GOT UNDER THE HOOD? SPP -- specific physical preparedness, is a sister-term/concept, and refers to the athlete's ability to perform a specific athletic task, like bench press or run a marathon. Good question! |
