Derek -- since you lose weight without meaning to, I assume you have one of those turbo metabolisms. This likely means that any old-school cardio (running, biking, swimming, etc.) will cause you to drop more weight, and muscle mass, than you want. There are some workouts that combine power and cardio training, with plyometrics probably being the most popular. With these kinds of movements, you may be able to retain a lot more strength while still working your heart and lungs. Also, some of the sled-pulling and strong man stuff can work in the same way. I'm hoping to get up with Rockman soon and find out more about some of the power-type cardio he does; he's a whiz at that stuff. I'll try and get some of that info up early next week. here are a couple of links I found that describe a few plyo movements that may fit your training. www.bodytrends.com/articles/strength/plyometrics.htmwww.joshstrength.com/test/plyometrics2.htmI am still learning a lot of this stuff myself, so please bear with me. Thanks, Marty

Derek- try walking SLOWLY on an incline on the treadmill- this will really push your heart and strengthen your core without the high impact of running. this is the cardio of choice for many bodybuilders that like to get their cardio in without burning up valuable muscle. . . ~MINX

Did you find this training to be effective? I am about bored to death of plodding away on exercise equipment for my cardio and this sounds like more fun.
