The other day a lifter saw me doing pullups with a hip belt and a plate. After I was done doing my set he asked me why I was doing non powerlifting excercises. I explained that it helped to strengthen all of my back, by doing these movements. Friends and neighbors......Your back needs to be strong from kneck to ass. Sometimes the muscles you use to perform rowing movements will help save you when things start to go wrong in a lift. We also know the importance of strengthening the muscles around a joint. Ok well, what about your spinal cord? If you think having shoulders to rival Hercules, and a lower back that looks like a pyramind is a good idea you are right. The thing is both of those are connected to each other by a host of other musclses. Ignore these other muscle groups and you will be hot garbage. Everything in your body needs to be on par with each other.
