I been very tempted to try that Hook Grip again, but I am not going to lie to you all. First time I ever tried it, I was felt like a little "Baby Bitch Butterfly"! What little I know about this form of grip is that you need to be conditioned for it. But if Brett swears by it then his word is good enough for me, I may try and give it another run!

What I learned from trying it was that 640 doesn't hurt any worse than 365 or 405. Concentrate on the important aspects of the lift like squeezing your ass and pushing your hips through hard and forget about your grip it can't let go unless you lose a thumb.

Tadpole is my friend, and my trainer. He is not a natural, he is someone who has had to train his ass off for everything he has accomplished. He pulls hook grip most of the time. It works for him. He has shown other people how to do it and it works for some of them. The main thing I see with it is blocking out the pain when you grip this way. I personally can not get past that mental block. When I pull my grip is all in my mind I prefer to visualize reaching into the bar. I do not clench my grip because in my mind I am part of the bar. Hook grip will allow you to focus more on just pulling, because you are not able to put the weight down unless you willingly straighten your fingers out. I practice hook grip every once in a while. Still it is not best for me. Really you got to step back and realize that not everything works for everyone. That is why there is so many different methods. I believe in trying all of it that you can. Also I never be-little anybody for the way they do something. I talk to my hands and move around like I am a machine when I lift.
