i believe quite a bit in the westside/conjugate training theory, specifically how they train the deadlift. the deadlift from the floor is one of the most taxing lifts your nervous system can take on which is why supplemental exercises are used most of the time. i believe this method is better for the pull in the long run. i do however pull from the floor for speed relatively often with some form of weight releasers to keep technique tuned in and bar speed at a maximum. here are 3 articles on the ways louie simmons preaches and teaches training the deadlift
