what does this do compared to a shirt without it? does it change the groove?

The way that I understand the grid stitch is that it makes the 2 layers work as one. It also gives the shirt less stretch making for more pop out of the bottom. It won't change the groove any.....in my experience anyway....but I don't waer a reallt tight shirt either.
