1) Congrats on the 770. Any thought on doing some bench only ?
SF) Yes, actually I'm going to do the bench bash in Dabuque Ia in jan.
2) Describe "Big Iron", and who do YOU go to for advice there ?
SF) Well I would have to say its the top of the line as far as
intencedy, and I know our training and conditioning is also top of the line.As far as who I go to for advice thats really simple Rick Hussey he is an amazing coach and I give him truck loads of credit.
3) Describe how seeing yourself on the cover of PL USA after the
Sr.'s felt.
SF) Well I was surprised to be honest but I also felt proud. Its nice
knowing all your training pays off.
4) Since winning in Vegas, where do you go from there ?
SF) Well I plan on doing the wpc/wpo semi's in november.
5) What gear/equipment do you use ? Any sponsors ?
SF) I have been using Inzer gear for some time now and its simply the
best I have to say thanks to John and for sponsoring me with all the gear it keeps getting better. So thanks to Inzer Advanced Design.
6) Who do YOU consider the top 5 lifters today, regardless of
weight class ?
SF) Well I would have to say oleksandar kutcher, Andy Bolton, Chuck Vogelpohl, Travis Mash and Becca swanson. for bench specialist I would say Ryan Kennelly.
7) Give a little history on where you've been lifting and in the
military.
SF) I started training pretty much by myself and in the usapl I saw alot of big lifts happening in the apf and thats when I ran into Rick and have been training at Big Iron ever since. I was able to train in Afghanistan a little over a year ago and I think it helped with my raw stength while I was there and I was there for 1 yr so I'm glad I didnt have any injuries.
8) When the time comes and you decide to quit lifting; what do you
want people to say about Shawn Frankl ?
SF) Well lifting is definitaly not the most important thing in my life I put God before anything and if I can leave the sport knowing that I got to be a wittness for him and having people know that I am human and make mistakes but continualy try to do Gods will for my life then that would to me be better than winning any meet in this world.
9) Describe your training schedule.
SF) We normally train heavy every week and multiple heavy sets to build
indurence to heavy weight. We squat on saterdays bench on mondays and
deadlift on wednesday. We do heavy reverce bands both on squats and on
the bench. We deadlift from the ground every week and also use bords.
10) Lifting aside, who have you met in the sport that really sticks
out in your mind and why ?
SF)Well if I would have never started powerlifting I would'nt met Rick
Hussey so I would diffenitaly say it would be rick.I consider him a
true friend even aside from lifting. He has coached me to a whole nother level which I know I wouldnt have gotton were I am today without all his coaching.Nobody really knows the real Rick Hussey but he's a great guy and has alot of influence on alot of peoples lives.
BW)Shawn, Please take a second and mention anyone you'd like to.
SF)Finally I'd like to thank God for the ability to do this sport and for all the manny blessings he has given me including my gorgeous wife Melissa and my son Austin. They suffer from all the time I put into training and I want to thank them. Also I'd like to thank Rick Hussey and everyone at Big Iron. Thanks to my sponsor Inzer Advanced Design for the awesome gear!

Shawn, thanks for taking some time out and doing this. It seems like most PL magazines never really ask some simple questions that the fans or other lifters are wondering.
SF) Yes, actually I'm going to do the bench bash in Dabuque Ia in jan.
