Hey Brother hope all is well! I was wandering did you teach yourself or did someone teach you how to alter? I'm sick of the inconsistant job our regular guy has been doing, for instance he put beige velcro on my wifes new blue Titan shirt and it looks like SHIT! Thanks

Jonathan I guess it is just one of those second talents I have, my sister is also a really good seamstress as well. But like anything you can learn, what I suggest is a decent sewing machine that can at least punch through 6 layers of denim. Then the hardest part and that is learning to thread the bobbin, swear it is the hardest part to learn. Lastly just practice on projects and play with your tension so you can feel the machine out, take an old pair of pants and just go to it. With a week or so of practice you should be competent enough to take on just about any project. Just be patient when learning and try not to get too pissed off. I am guilty of that myself, but once you get it down you will find it somewhat enjoyable and take your mind of things. What I would start of with like I said a decent machine for about $80.00, Seamstress Scissors $5.00 Thread $10.00 and that is about all you need and all available at your local Wal-Mart. Hope this helped you a little I know it’s vague, but it is not that hard to pick up. Just a little persistence and practice bro!

Mike, I went to Wal-Mart and got everything I think I needed and started practicing on old clothes around the house. About 12 years ago when I was stationed down town we had two industrial sewing machines and I fixed fire gear and actually got pretty good so I think it will all come back to me. I got a Singer for around $100 and the upholstery thread and ordered 2 and 4 inch Velcro from ebay. Thanks for your help and keep updating this section of the board so I can keep up. Jonathan

Jonathan glad I could help you out and I will be adding some new stuff in the next few weeks. Main one I see people asking about is like you said Velcro and Neck tweaking.
