I am 39 years old, married, father of two,a son Christopher who is 20 years old and attending UNCW and hopes to work in the sports medicine field after completion. My daughter Kristi is 14 years old and aspires to be a Veterinarian. I live in Mt. Airy, NC where is was born and own a small pest control company.
I train with the greatest group of people you could ever know: The Granite City Crew (my home gym) including Tim Higgins, Chris Cooke, Ben Hooker, Barry Woods, Rusty Slate, Jason Tilley, Jason Rakes. On a regular basis we have other athletes train with us like the Nebo Crew, Joey Smith, Rodney Coates and last but definitely not least Stacey Jones. From the south we have Travis Mash, Barry Williams, Ox and Kristi Mason, Hannah Johnson, Mike White and we have various others up from time to time and everyone is invited anytime they would like, just let me know.
I began training in 1999, doing bench only (miserably) and have not given up since. I enjoy lifting and have met my very best friends through meets (you know who you are) my most recent accomplishments are becoming sponsored by Metal/Elite Fitness Systems, winning the 2006 WPC Superheavy weight champion of the world, winning the 2006 APF SC States and best lifter, winning the 2006 APF Mens Submaster National Championships, and currently hold all the NC APF SHW State records. My best contest lifts are 970 # squat done at the WPC Worlds, 675 Bench and 733 Deadlift...if have pulled over 800 # in training.
In closing I would like to say thank you for all the support my friends have given me, without you this would not be possible. Thanks to Joey Smith for promoting this site and the APF and thank you to those who told me you were proud of me.
