Chris,
What are the pros and cons of holding the bar for a few seconds after hand-off versus starting the decent immediately?
Thanks

well number 1 you are supposed to do that at every meet. you are supposed to hold the bar at arms length and show control before the descent. the reason i do it is because it allows me to get set before i begin to lower the bar. i tuck my elbows before i get the bar handed to mewhich means i don't need a lot of time to get set but when you handle crazy weight you don't won't the bar drifting in any direction. a lot of lifters tuck once they begin to lower the bar which would mean you have to have a slight pause at the top to get set. i have recently started really holding the weight before and after the lift in training to get some extra time under tension and hopefully this will help if the judging gets like it should be as well
