last i heard the whole squat challenge at the arnold was a joke. very few lifters and hardly no spectators. deadlift only might bring 10-12 lifters. nice name though, night of the dead ;D LOL!....your my dogg bro....you beat me to that bit of info....by the way how many spectators where at the Arnold while we were there watching the benching?....like 80% of the spectators left from the full power to come and watch plus the crowd already there from the expo....

Not really wanting to add anything to this but, it's funny to hear ANYBODY say benching ain't PLin'.
Theres a reason 90% of all meets have a "bench only"section. Benching=asses in seats; which in turn = $ for the promoter to cover costs. Don't try to kid yourself into thinking any different.
I puke benchin' just like leg day. If you don't, then maybe that's a sign your not training your bench with the same intensity. Try that for a year and let's have this same discussion.

I went to the arnold 2 yrs ago. I couldnt hardly see there were so many people. I think cooke was competing. I didnt know him but I cheered for him cause he was from the carolinas. funny thing ....derek was right the ping pong room was packed. It was a small room derek. The bench contest was on the main floor. I think joey, barry, cooke and myself have respect from the powerlifters. I just dont always feel the love. Derek: I dont include you in that. I know that you are just polluted with that stuff due to having a big deadlift for such a light dude. If you guys havent seen him he is pretty good. He has a cute arch too on the bench. You can call benchers what you want but you have to admit it is amazing to watch just like a big deadlift or squat. If you are good at what you do then people take notice.

Nobody ever asks me how much I squat or pull unless they know the sport. By all means a benchpresser is a powerlifter. I suck at it but that does not change the fact that others are good.
